About
Formerly a garden dating back to 1758, Higginson Park, a Green Flag park, has been a public park since 1926 with large expanses of lawn, formal flowerbeds, fine trees and a maze.
Higginson Park has indoor and outdoor catering, and public toilets. There are many fine trees and large expanses of lawn with formal flowerbeds and a brick in grass maze, created by Adrian Fisher to mark the Millennium. The park has a large children's playground and a skate park which is open all year.
The Thames Path passes through the Park and there is an area of protected wetland with kingfishers and a variety of swans, ducks and other waterfowl. A statue to Sir Steve Redgrave, the five gold medal winning Olympic rowing hero, stands proudly looking out to the river.
The frontage on to the River Thames has mooring for pleasure craft and boating for hire, as well as river cruises to Windsor and Henley.
For a spot of excitement in Higginson Park, hire a self-operated electric boat or a rowing boats from The Little Green Boat Company, perfect for memorable family outings accommodating up to 8 individuals.
In 2016 Higginson Park achieved the prestigious Green Flag for the thirteenth year running. The award recognises excellence in park management.
The park houses the Shelley Theatre.
