We are pleased to announce that after a 16 month restoration programme of public spaces, suites and bedrooms Cliveden is now fully restored to its former glory and has achieved AA Hotel of the Year 2015/16.

The chalk cliffs that give the estate its name provide visitors panoramic views over the beautiful Berkshire countryside and an idyllic bend in the River Thames. From the moment you are ushered into the beautiful Great Hall with its grand fireplace, oak panelling and priceless artworks, our aim is to ensure you feel like a treasured, personal guest. ACCOMMODATION
An invitation to stay at Cliveden was seldom refused in Lady Astor's day - not least because the bedrooms were so luxuriously appointed and the staff so attentive. The standards she set over 100 years ago are still rigorously maintained today. You can be certain of a beautifully restored room filled with exquisite furnishings and priceless antiques. Luxury accommodation in or near London does not come any better than this. Each room is named after a prominent guest or figure from Cliveden's past and furnished accordingly. It's an experience so unforgettable that our many guests, who return time and again, comment on the friendliness and professionalism of our staff.

Cliveden has a long tradition of fine food and warm hospitality. George Bernard Shaw enjoyed many a fine meal here as a guest of Lord and Lady Astor and would be equally enamoured by the first class cuisine offered at Cliveden today. At Cliveden the cuisine, the wine, the service and the ambience all amaze in equal measure. No matter which restaurant you choose you will find courteous and attentive service, excellent food and palate-tingling wines, delivered in the most beautiful surroundings.

Head Chef André Garrett joined Cliveden from Park Lane to put Cliveden firmly back on the gastronomic map. Stunning dishes like Cocotte of native Dorset lobster and Fillet of Cumbrian longhorn beef appear alongside re-invented classics like Dover sole Veronique and venison "Grand-Veneur". Inspired by the culinary classics, André Garrett has passionately reworked long-overlooked dishes and carefully crafted some new signatures. Each one is meticulously conceived, fastidiously prepared then cooked with modernity and finished with André Garrett's defining lightness of touch. Somerset born André Garrett places huge emphasis on the provenance of ingredients, so naturally the three course A la Carte and eight course Tasting menus will be unashamedly governed by English ingredients and guided by our seasons.

For those of you who enjoy a more informal and relaxed atmosphere, the Club Room is open to House guests for breakfast, lunch and dinner where food is cooked to order and prepared in a gastro-pub style.

PAVILION SPA 

The Pavilion Spa offers a unique historic experience in breath-taking rural surroundings like nowhere else. Situated inside the famous walled garden, made famous by its association with the Profumo affair in the 1960s, the Pavilion Spa provides an oasis of calm and relaxation. This haven of tranquillity offers an impressive list of beauty and holistic treatments for our house guests and club members. Relax in the heated indoor and outdoor pools, Canadian hot tubs, whirlpool spas, men’s and ladies’ steam rooms and sauna. The walled garden is a secluded suntrap, with an array of sun beds next to the pool.

Guests have included every British monarch since George I as well as Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill, Harold Macmillan, President Roosevelt, George Bernard Shaw, John Profumo and Christine Keeler, and many other well-known names from the past and present. Cliveden is, at heart, a charming country house hotel where you can come away to escape, relax and be indulged at every opportunity.
