The Savill Garden

About

First created by Sir Eric Savill as his woodland garden in the 1930s, the latest addition, The Rose Garden, was opened by H.M. the Queen in 2010.

Known as Britain's finest ornamental garden, The Savill Garden is a garden for all seasons and a place of beauty and colour that's loved by horticulturalists and enthusiasts alike. With 35 acres of interconnecting gardens and exotic woodland, each garden has its own unique attraction, featuring a distinctive group of plants that introduce a fresh burst of vibrant colour throughout the seasons. Including  seasonal gardens, New Zealand Garden, The Glades and Azalea walks, The Savill Garden features plants from all over the world. Keeper of the Gardens, Mark Flanagan follows in the footsteps of plant hunters like Ernest Wilson, searching the globe for interesting new additions. 

The Savill Building

Opened in 2006, The Savill Building is a purpose built 21st century visitor centre, and Its undulating roof, shaped like a leaf, merges seamlessly with the tall trees surrounding it. From inside the vast cathedral-like central space you can see the awesome, apparently self-supporting, greenwood roof.

Leith’s at The Savill Garden provides a great place to enjoy freshly made sandwiches, snacks and delicious hot meals.

Children’s play area

The children's play area is only a short walk from The Savill Garden car park. Close to the picnic tables on Obelisk Lawn, as well as to the restaurant, baby changing and toilets.

There are plenty of things to keep toddlers and younger children entertained including a shipwreck, climbing frame, toddler swings and sandpit.

The Royal Garden and River Boat Cruise

The Savill Garden will be teaming up with French Brothers, river boat operators, again to offer a great value package including a visit with The Savill Garden and a return trip along The River Thames from historic Runnymede to Windsor.

Packages available from £28.50 including  garden entry, boat trip, lunch and a cream tea.

The Gardener's Lunch

This is your opportunity to have lunch with the Head Gardener or one of his top team, a chance to ask any garden related question and have an expert answer it. It's great value at £24.50 per head which includes a summer buffet of poached salmon, honey roast ham and seasonal salads followed by strawberries and cream and mini summer berry cake with crystallised rose petals.  

Royal celebration at The Savill Garden

Enjoy a visit to the renowned Savill Garden, including the Queen Elizabeth Temperate House, and the splendid Rose Garden, opened by Her Majesty the Queen. Then return to The Lawns where you will find your own private tea tent, with tables set with crisp linen and fresh flowers, on which you will enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea especially created by Leith's. Package available from £22.50 and includes a full afternoon tea served, a glass of sparkling house wine and your own tea tent on a private lawn overlooking the garden. Available during weekdays from April to September.
