Salter's Steamers is a family firm that has provided first-class hospitality on the Royal River Thames for over 150 years (est. 1858). Cruises combine traditional style, contemporary comforts and the highest modern standards combined with some of the most beautiful scenery in England. They operate from a number of locations along the river with the main base being Oxford. They also offer boat hire and boat sales.
Salters Steamers offer a variety of hugely popular boat trips through some of the most beautiful scenery in England. During the summer scheduled trips operate from every major location on the Upper-Thames between the university city of Oxford and the London boundary city of Staines (including such famous places as Reading, Henley and Windsor).
The craft can be privately chartered as the perfect venue for all kinds of function, party or celebration (including showpiece events such as the Henley Royal Regatta).
In addition they offer a timetable of one-off special cruises held from a number of different locations throughout the year. These include public jazz cruises (from Oxford and Windsor), special services along unusual routes (e.g. Oxford to Wolvercote) as well as different trips to mark certain events (e.g. Bunkfest at Wallingford).

- Marlow to Windsor (Mondays only from 8th July to 2nd September 2019)
- Windsor to Maidenhead (only available for pre-booked parties of 20 or more passengers)
- Staines to Windsor (only available for pre-booked parties of 20 or more passengers)

Short Trips
Salter's operate a variety of shorter round trips from the places listed below:
Oxford, Abingdon, Reading, Henley, Marlow. Windsor (only available for pre-booked parties of 20 or more passengers).
Please note that some of the trips only run on particular days and are all subject to weather conditions and boat availability - please check with our Oxford Office on 01865 243421.
Although the official season runs from late May to late September short trips may also run from select locations before and after these dates if the weather is particularly good.
Salters Steamers also offer public boat trips, themed boat trips, scheduled trips, and boat hire from punts to electric and diesel cruisers. Scheduled trips stop between Oxford and Staines. Boat charter is also available for corporate hospitality and weddings.

Group Tours
There are a variety of enjoyable scheduled cruises ideal for group travel organisers with special rates for tour operators and travel companies (for details ring 01865 243421) and discounted fares for those booking large numbers in advance (for details of advanced booking service see below)
For a more exclusive occasion the boats can also be privately chartered for groups.
Onboard Facilities
The boats have been especially built for pleasure trips and provide excellent views of the surroundings. Most of them are on three levels with an open-deck for basking in the sun, a deck covered by an awning (for those who prefer some shade) and a fully enclosed saloon. The boats all have toilet facilities onboard and a bar serving drinks (hot, cold and alcoholic) as well as small snacks. The boats can accommodate manual wheelchairs but it is best to contact the Oxford office for further details about disabled access from each of the respective landing stages.
Booking Information
An advance booking service is provided on all of the scheduled services (for groups of twenty or more passengers only). Parties of this size qualify for a 10% discount (off the adult and child fares only).
