Salter's Steamers is a family firm that has provided first-class hospitality on the Royal River Thames for over 150 years (est. 1858). Cruises combine traditional style, contemporary comforts and the highest modern standards combined with some of the most beautiful scenery in England. They operate from a number of locations along the river including Reading. They also offer boat hire and boat sales.
Scheduled Public Trip: Reading to Henley Service
This Service will depart 6 days a week Tuesday to Sunday from 25th May to 1st September 2019 (not Mondays).

This is one of the most popular services which passes through four locks including Sonning and its famous bridge and picturesque riverside villages before finishing in the historic market town of Henley, home of the River & Rowing Museum. Highlights include:
Caversham Lock, River Kennet, Reading Regatta Course, Thames Parade, Holme Park, Sonning Lock, Shiplake Lock, Wargarve and Hennington Backwater, Marsh Lock, Park Place (seat of Lord Archibald and occasional residence of George IV).
Boats depart from Caversham Bridge, Reading at 10:30 stopping at Sonning Lock, Shiplake Lock before reaching Henley (Mill Meadow) at 12.45 – Total cruising time 2hrs 15 minutes.
The return journey leaves Henley at 4.15pm returning to Reading at 6.30pm.
Enjoy an afternoon in Henley. A must visit is the River & Rowing Museum, the children will love the Wind in the Willows exhibition. Or walk along the Thames Path National Trail to Marsh Lock. Because the lock is unusually situated on the opposite side of the river to the towpath, a long wooden bridge was built from the Oxfordshire bank to the lock island below the weir, and then back again to the riverbank above the weir. This feature is unique on the River Thames.

Short Trips from Reading
40 minute return trips (towards Mapledurham) at 1.45pm. This trip will run from the 16th July through to the 22nd August 2019. (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only).

Salters Steamers also offer public boat trips, themed boat trips, scheduled trips, and boat hire from punts to electric and diesel cruisers. Scheduled trips operate from every major location between Oxford and Staines. Boat charter is also available for corporate hospitality and weddings.
