About
Reading Twilight Trail: Biscuit Town returns to the stunning setting of the Abbey Ruins and Forbury Gardens from 3-31 December 2021. The Trail is a fun, fully accessible, open-air light trail experience, designed for all ages. This year’s theme celebrates Reading’s old nickname of Biscuit Town as we approach the bicentenary of Hunley and Palmers’ beginnings in London Street, Reading in 1822. They went on to establish the world’s biggest biscuit factory in the town and became one of the first global brands, selling to 172 countrie and supplying biscuits to Queen Victoria and Napoleon.
The lighting installations will include The Lion’s Roar and the Production Line stepping stones and there will be a wintery wonderland.
The food, drink and retail offerings from WePop, the team behind Reading’s Après Ski pop-up and Oktoberfest, include chalet bars and biscuit-related merchandise from Reading Museum.
December 8th sees Launchpad, Reading’s leading homelessness prevention charity, take over the Trail for the night, with Carols by Twilight, a take on their much-loved annual carols concert.
The Twilight Trail is the flagship of Reading UK’s Christmas in Reading campaign, which is encouraging residents and visitors to make the most of the town centre over the festive season, including support for Reading’s varied shopping and dining options which have suffered after a tough 18 months for the sector.
General booking for Twilight Trail: Biscuit Town opens on 8 October via www.whatsonreading.com, with tickets starting at £6 for children, £8 for adults and £26 for a family pass.
