Owning a boat

Imagine owning your own boat. You'll have a holiday home that you can use any day, any weekend, or evening.
The River Thames is home to a wide range of boats from small powered dinghys to cruisers and narrowboats.
There are large number of boatyards dotted along the river that sell new and used boats to fit varying budgets. For more information visit our buy a boat page.
Once you've got your boat and have a mooring lined up you'll need to register your boat.
Once that's all sorted you just need to work out where you want to go and familiarise yourself with waterway signs, rules and etiquette. The Boaters Handbook produced by British Waterways and the Environment Agency should help.
