Guide to the school holidays
The summer holidays have arrived again, and its time to decide how to entertain your kids this summer. Look no further, we have a range of summer holiday activities to suit every age and interest!
Firstly don’t forget our Discover your River Thames campaign will be running for the entire summer. Offering a whole range of special offers including passenger boat trips, attractions and events.
Head down to the River and Rowing Museum in Henley where you can find days of family fun. At the Waterways Fun Day (24-25 August 2010) you can try your hand at brass rubbing, make your own narrowboat or try the waterways trail. Join Mr Toad for his Summer Fete (12 August 2010), come in fancy dress for a chance to win some fantastic prizes, test your luck on the tombola or get your face painted.
Take a Family Ghost Tour round the National Trust property of Ham House. Discover the stories of the residents of Ham House that never left with this one hour guided tour.
Join Hobbs of Henley for a wildlife watching cruise and be inspired by the Wind in the Willows wildlife of the River Thames. A member of the Chilterns Conservation Board will be on hand to help you spot those hidden natural treasures.
Kids go free at Basildon Park this August and with a new theme of activities every week, its definitely the place to go. Take part in different activities, crafts and trails on a range of wildlife themes including Busy Bees, Brilliant Birds and Beautiful Butterflies.
Drop-in and make something every Tuesday and Thursday at Wycombe Museum. Investigate science with the Whizz! Buzz! Pop! session, enjoy perfect paper craft or try terrific toymaking.
Become a wildlife detective with the Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre. Learn how to read the clues to see what is living on the reserve. Other summer holiday activities include Damsels and Dragons and Wild art and Den building.
